Time will tell if this goes on to become a used car classic as fans re-evaluate it based on its own considerable powers or fades away to become a pariah car. Now there's a new BMW 5 Series on the block. Bangle has gone and this new model returns to basics. Fans are delighted to see some hallmark features returning. It looks the real deal and seems set to recapture its place as the leading executive car in its class. The future looks as bright as the past.
This first one is a review for the BMW 1 Series. Driving the BMW 1 SeriesThe 1 Series has a very good driving position , sitting lower than most but very comfortable. Radio controls and standard Trip Computer all easily accessible through controls on or around the steering wheel. The diesel engine is a particular highlight with excellent acceleration , top speed and excellent fuel economy ( regularly returning 50mpg+ ). The steering is excellent , immediate and light enough to be comfortable but with enough weight in the control to feel the car's movement. The suspension isn't as forgiving as others but this may be down to the run flat tyres that are standard with all BMW's now.
BMW seems to have avoided what it presumably see's as unnecessary glamorous and evocative names for all of its vehicles. Instead , this manufacturer of some of the finest luxury vehicles in the world opted , with great German logic , to simply number each of different series of models , with a complex set of numbers and letters. BMW currently produces the 1 Series , 3 Series , 5 Series , 7 Series , as well as SUVs that naturally to the German's , have the letter X and two-seater roadsters , perhaps you guessed that these all use the letter Z.
